Diversity comes in many forms, some that may be obvious externally and others less so. At Sunnyside, we define diversity broadly as acknowledging the many dimensions of the families that make up our community. We hope that this book list will serve as a jumping point for families and educators who would like to introduce children to issues of diversity. We should add that this book list will always be a work in progress. The original list was compiled by the Sunnyside diversity committee in 2006-2007 and updated by the diversity committee again in 2010-2011. Our new format allows searches for books on the list using many criteria. Many of the books on this list can be found at Forbes Library or a Western MA Library in the C/W MARS network.
